About 34,344 children from the Ilocos Region aged one to four years have been enrolled under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) through the Rehistro Bulilit program since February 15 this year.

PSA Ilocos Region registration officer Zenaida Garcillan said bulk of the registrants are from Pangasinan, 27,592, and followed by those from La Union, 3,358; Ilocos Norte, 2,206; and Ilocos Sur, 1,188.

She said they project the toddler population in the region to reach around 309,000.

‘The national ID registration is (a) nationwide (program) and the children will also be given their own national ID,’ she said in a phone interview on Thursday.

Aside from the PSA offices, Rehistro Bulilit are also being held at malls to make the registration fun for children, she said.

Requirements to register a child include the submission of original birth certificate, national ID of the parent (since the data of the child will be linked to the parents) and authorization of the parent if a guardian will accompany the
