PNB Awards Over RM400 Million in Scholarships to Top Students

SHAH ALAM, Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) has awarded RM430.1 million in scholarships to 5,857 high-achieving students, to pursue their tertiary education.

PNB Group chairman Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda emphasised that focusing on education is one of the key priorities for the agency, balancing profit with social investment.

‘At PNB, we are committed to ensuring sustainable returns for our unitholders, while also contributing to the socio-economic advancement of the country,’ he said during his speech in conjunction with the opening of the ‘Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia (MSAM) 2024’ event, held at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC), today.

The event was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and it was also attended by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Raja Arshad said apart from education, PNB also established collaborations with several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for community development, to improve people’s living standards.

‘Last year, PNB contri
buted RM6 million, with 95 per cent allocated for community development and the rest for education development.

‘Among these contributions was a RM5 million donation, benefitting over 18,500 individuals and 60 schools affected by flash floods from November 2022 to March of the following year,’ he said.

In the meantime, Raja Arshad said that, since its inception, PNB has recorded as much as RM249.2 billion in income distribution.

He added that PNB has been organising MSAM since 2000, to share financial planning and investment knowledge to improve the economic level of the people, and thus far, MSAM has benefited more than 4.3 million Malaysians.

The four-day MSAM 2024, starts today, at SCCC Setia Alam.
