PICKids: About 20,000 children in Perlis eligible for COVID-19 vaccination

KANGAR, Feb 10 — About 20,000 children aged five to 11 in Perlis are eligible for the first dose of vaccine under the COVID-19 National Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids).

As of today, an estimated 100 children received their first dose at the off-site vaccination centre (PPV) of Klinik Annura at Masjid Syed Alwi and the special PPV (SPPV) at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF), here.

State Health Department director, Dr Sirajuddin Hashim said yesterday (Feb 9), 10 children received the Comirnaty (Pfizer-BioNTech) vaccine shots at the SPPV HTF and 60 children who got their jabs at the off-site PPV, Klinik Annura, Masjid Syed Alwi.

“Beginning Feb 14, three PPVs will be opened at three primary schools in Perlis after obtaining the approval from parents in order to increase the vaccination rates.

“The SPPV HTF is for children with comorbidities while children without medical issues will receive their vaccination jabs at the off-site PPV of Klinik Annura, Masjid Syed Alwi and offsite PPV, Kubang Gajah service centre.
