Perlis To Host National Quran Recitation And Memorisation Competition 2025

KANGAR, Perlis has been selected as the host for the National Quran Recitation and Memorisation Competition (MTHQK) for the year 1446H/2025M, which will feature 112 participants from across the country.

The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), in a statement today, said the decision was conveyed by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar to the Regent of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail during an audience yesterday.

‘The official dates for MTHQK will be announced to the public before the end of the year. Generally, each state will be represented by eight participants, namely two in the recitation category and six in the memorisation category,’ the statement read.

It also said that Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, who is also MAIPs president, expressed his delight at Perlis being chosen as the host state for the MTHQK 2025.

‘His Royal Highness hopes that Perlis will continue to attract organisers for various competitions
and tournaments to further enliven the Visit Perlis Year 2024-2025 campaign, which is ongoing until the end of next year.

‘In addition, there will be celebrations for the Silver Jubilee of the Reign of Raja Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail on April 16, 2025, and subsequently, the Visit Malaysia Year 2026,’ the statement added.
