Perak’s Men’s, Women’s Softball Teams Charge Into SUKMA 2024 Finals

MIRI, The Perak men’s and women’s softball teams are fired up and determined to clinch gold after both teams secured their spots in the finals at the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) today.

In a thrilling match at the National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) here, the Perak men’s team, led by coach Ridzuan Rawi and reigning champions of Group A, defeated Terengganu, the Group B champions, with a score of 5-3 in a seven-inning game.

Ridzuan attributed the victory to his players’ ability to minimise errors at this critical stage of the competition.

‘Usually, when teams reach the top level, the ones making unforced errors tend to lose, as these errors often lead to scoring opportunities for the opponent. Alhamdulillah, we managed to reduce unforced errors today,’ he said.

Meanwhile, the Perak women’s team secured a 10-8 win against Negeri Sembilan in a closely contested seven-inning match at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Merbau.

In the men’s final, Perak will face Terengganu, who edged Pahang 7-6, while the w
omen’s final will see Perak go up against Johor, who easily beat Negeri Sembilan 14-3 in the page system match.

Both gold medal clashes are set to take place tomorrow.
