Perak Floods: Number Of Evacuees Drops To 173


IPOH, The number of flood evacuees in Perak has dropped to 173 people from 49 families this morning, down from 213 people (56 families) reported last night, who were housed in three temporary relief centres.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, in Muallim, 100 people from 27 families from Kampung Pasir remain at the relief centre at Masjid Jamek Kampung Pasir, while 47 people (14 families) from Slim Village are being housed at the centre at Masjid Jamek Slim Village.

Additionally, 26 people from eight families from Kampung Tebuk are staying at the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Matang in the Larut, Matang, and Selama district, it said.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has predicted rain this morning in most districts of Perak, including Larut, Matang and Selama, Kerian, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Hilir Perak, Bagan Datuk, and Kuala Kangsar.

The state Public Works Department (JKR) reported that the state road A121 Jalan Slim River-Behrang
Ulu in the Muallim district remains closed due to the collapse of the main road. Meanwhile, the federal road FT 004 Jalan Raya Timur Barat (JRTB) Kupang Gerik-Jeli is still open to only one lane due to landslides.

‘The federal route FT 1152 in Felda Trolak Selatan in the Batang Padang district is also open to one lane for all vehicles due to a collapse on the shoulder of the road,’ read the statement.
