Perak BN Mobilises Orang Asli Members For Nenggiri By-election Campaign – Saarani

Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) has mobilised party machinery, including Orang Asli members, to support the coalition candidate contesting the Nenggiri by-election in Kelantan.

State BN chairman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said that the team has been active in Gua Musang for a week, focusing their efforts on the Sungai Asap voting district centre (PDM); and two Orang Asli PDMs, in Sungai Puian and Pos Simpor, respectively.

‘We have mobilised Orang Asli members, who are canvassing door to door, and by coincidence, some of them have family connections in the area,’ Saarani explained at a press conference after the Perak SUKMA 2024 contingent flag presentation ceremony.

The Perak Menteri Besar, who is also the state UMNO Liaison Body chairman, said this when asked to comment on whether the party machinery at the state level was also mobilised to help the Nenggiri by-election campaign.

The Aug 17 by-election is being held following the vacancy announced by Kelantan State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdul
lah on June 19, after the incumbent Mohd Azizi Abu Naim ceased to be a member of Bersatu on June 13.

In that Kelantan state election last year, Mohd Azizi contested using the PAS logo, and defeated the BN candidate, Ab Aziz Yusoff, with a majority of 810 votes.

The Nenggiri by-election witnesses a straight fight between BN candidate, Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani, representing the Unity Government, and PN representative, Mohd Rizwadi Ismail, who is contesting using the PAS logo.
