PENSONIC TO COLLABORATE WITH USM, USAINS IN TALENT DEVELOPMENT

GEORGE TOWN, Pensonic Holdings Bhd, a leading local electrical home appliance company in Malaysia, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Usains Holding Sdn Bhd to collaborate in talent development and skill optimisation.

The MoU signing was witnessed by Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak here today.

Pensonic group chief executive officer Dixon Chew said the strategic collaboration with USM and Usains underlines the company’s commitment to foster future industry leaders and innovators.

‘Malaysia is moving towards a service-oriented and digital economy with a large proportion of businesses now using digital platforms.

“This situation has led to an increase in digital trade, payment and public services that require digital skills, therefore the preparation and improvement of employee skills for this digital economy will be a determining factor to thrive in this economy,” he said in a statement.

Chew said Statista, a global data and bu
siness intelligence platform, predicts an increase in the number of users in the e-commerce market in Malaysia between 2024 and 2029 by about 8.1 million users, which is an increase of 76 per cent with the number expected to reach 18.81 million users in the next 10 years.

Thus, he said, to remain competitive in the global market, there is a need to ensure that the talents are equipped with skills that match the growing job requirements.

Meanwhile, he said, since November 2023 under the new management direction, Pensonic has taken advantage of the Turkiye-Malaysia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by focusing on the OEM/ODM business, exporting various types of electrical home appliances to Turkiye.

This sales initiative in Turkiye has shown remarkable growth, with exports increasing more than fivefold, while overall export sales tripled in the 2023/2024 financial year.

Chew also introduced Pensonic’s latest innovation, which is a multi-functional air cooler in accordance with the rapidly growing lifestyle in Sout
heast Asia.

“This air cooler is equipped with various features such as air supply, cooling, humidification, UV blue light sterilisation and negative ion purification technology.

“Pensonic will gradually expand the online platform in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, and then to other countries in Southeast Asia,” he said.
