Penang Smart Parking to resume normal operations by early Thursday morning (Jan 20)

GEORGE TOWN, Jan 19 — The Penang Smart Parking (PSP) system, which suffered a technical glitch today, is expected to return to normal operations by 6am tomorrow (Jan 20).

PSP app developer HeiTech Padu Bhd, apologised to users in a statement today for over any inconvenience caused and said the company has taken immediate measures to resolve the issue.

Thousands of PSP app users were shocked to find that the account balance in their PSP e-wallet changed to RM4.40 today due to technical problems, even though their balances were higher previously.

“User e-wallet records have been restored and we expect all transactions to operate as usual by 6 am tomorrow,” the company said.

PSP is a Penang state government initiative to replace the previous coupon payment system, and all payments for parking spaces under the the Penang City Council (MBPP) and Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) have been made via the PSP app since it was introduced in 2019.
