President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday approved the request to repair a bridge at the Santa Ana village in Guimba, Nueva Ecija.

During the launch of the Agri-Puhunan at Pantawid Program in Guimba, Nueva Ecija, Marcos ordered Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Conrado Estrella III to lead the reconstruction of the Santa Ana Bridge in Guimba town.

‘Pagpasok pa lamang namin ay may narinig na kaming request na may kailangan daw na tulay doon sa Sta. Ana (As soon as we entered, we heard a request that a bridge is needed there in Sta. Ana). Okay, approved,’ Marcos said.

‘Instruction ko kay Secretary Estrella, isama niya sa bridge building program ng Department of Agrarian Reform. Meron pong programa doon. Isama natin po ‘yung tulay ng Sta. Ana (My instruction to Secretary Estrella was to include it in the Department of Agrarian Reform’s bridge building program. There is already a program there. Let’s include the bridge of Sta. Ana),’ he said.

The request for repair works was made by Guimba, Nue
va Ecija Mayor Jesulito Galapon who also sought to help develop and boost tourism, trade, industry, and the agricultural sector in Guimba, the Presidential Communications Office said in a separate statement.

The PCO said the Santa Ana Bridge connects Balbalino and Santa Ana villages in Guimba, Nueva Ecija.

The DAR’s project, dubbed as Pang-Agraryong Tulay para sa Bagong Bayanihan ng mga Magsasaka (PBBM) Project, aims to push countryside progress with the bridge infrastructure that will increase the productivity and income of at least 350,000 households.

The bridge project is also part of the socio-economic agenda of the Marcos administration detailed in the Philippine Development Plan for 2023-2028.

The modular steel bridges aim to enhance mobility for agrarian reform communities, providing better logistics support, increased income opportunities, and better access to social services.
