Pahang Increases incentive for Para SUKMA Gold Medal Winners

KUANTAN, The Pahang government has agreed to raise the gold medal incentive for Malaysia Para Games (Para SUKMA) athletes from RM5,000 to RM6,000, matching the amount previously awarded to Malaysia Games (SUKMA) athletes.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail expressed his pride in the Para athletes who surpassed the target of 10 gold medals.

‘I extend my congratulations to the Pahang Para SUKMA athletes. May the success achieved by the Para athletes serve as an inspiration to everyone, showcasing the extraordinary dedication and fighting spirit.

‘Keep up the effort, and let the experience in Sarawak fuel your motivation for even greater success, especially in preparation for the Para SUKMA XXII in Selangor in 2026,’ he said in a statement today.

Additionally, Wan Rosdy announced that athletes who won silver medals will receive RM3,000, while bronze medalists will be awarded RM2,000.

He also expressed his appreciation to state Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports, and Non-Governmental Org
anisations Committee chairman, Fadzli Mohamad Kamal and the Para athletes contingent, chef-de-mission Khairulnizam Mohd Zuldin, who is also Kemayan assemblyman, for their outstanding achievements.

Overall, Pahang’s Para SUKMA athletes secured 29 medals, consisting of 15 gold, five silver, and nine bronze medals, placing seventh in the Games, which took place from Sept 22 to 28.

Previously, the Pahang government awarded RM570,000 in incentives to the Pahang SUKMA contingent, who brought home 23 gold, 21 silver, and 32 bronze medals.
