P29/kg. rice available in Camarines Sur Oct. 17

LEGAZPI CITY – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) 5 (Bicol) on Wednesday said 2,000 bags of affordable rice will be available for sale in the “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” at the NIA Camarines Sur Irrigation Management Office in Magarao town on Thursday.

In an interview on Wednesday, NIA-Bicol spokesperson Ma. Cleofe Baraero said the Bagong Bayaning Magsasaka (BBM Rice) will be sold to vulnerable groups like senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) members.

“We are inviting the public, particularly those who belong to vulnerable groups, to avail of the low-cost and newly harvested rice. It will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis,” she said.

Baraero said each beneficiary can buy one 10-kilogram (kg) bag of rice for only PHP290 or PHP29 per kg.

“Reminder to our buyers: do not forget their identification cards (IDs), they must present them when buying rice. This is also proof that they belong to the vulnerable group. We will not s
ell rice without ID,” she added.

Baraero said the public can also buy cheap vegetables, regular rice, and other agricultural products produced by the various NIA-assisted irrigators’ associations (IAs) in Camarines Sur.

Meanwhile, the Kadiwa ng Pangulo will be held as scheduled on Oct. 22 in Iriga City, and on Oct. 25 in San Jose town.
