Over 700 Enforcement Personnel Take Part In Sabah’s Act 852 Integrated Mega Op

KOTA KINABALU, Sabah Health director Datuk Dr Asits Sanna led over 700 personnel from various enforcement agencies to conduct an Integrated Mega Operation of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852) here today.

Among the agencies involved were the Ministry of Health (MOH), police, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), Customs and local authorities.

Dr Asits said the operation was carried out in the form of educational supervision and that it was intended to, among others, ensure that every eatery puts up a no-smoking sign board.

“After this, we will carry out enforcement. Today, we hope to cover 80 per cent of the premises around Kota Kinabalu,’ he told reporters after officiating the launch of the integrated operation.

He also hopes that enforcement of the new act would achieve its objective for the sake of the public’s health and produce a new smoke-free generation.

“As such, I also hope for the involvement of more corporat
e companies, private sector and government agencies to help support the ministry in implementing the enforcement of Act 852,’ he added.
