Over 500,000 Participants Benefit From eUsahawan Programme

KUCHING, A total of 564,629 participants, consisting of entrepreneurs and students nationwide, have benefited from the eUsahawan Programme, generating cumulative sales exceeding RM1.26 billion since its inception in 2015.

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) chairman, Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh said that out of this number, 34,104 entrepreneurs in Sarawak have taken advantage of the programme, generating cumulative sales of over RM51.63 million.

‘The participants include students from higher learning institutions (IPT), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students, and local entrepreneurs,’ he said during the launch ceremony of the Jelajah Saya Digital (JSD) @ Kuching here today.

The eUsahawan initiative is an external and online learning training programme that trains participants in digital entrepreneurship to generate income, promote products and boost sales.

The JSD programme, which runs for two days until tomorrow, was officially launched by Deputy Digital Minister, Datuk Wilson
Ugak Kumbong.

At a press conference after the launch, Ugak said that the JSD initiative, now in its 17th edition, should be expanded to rural and remote areas to ensure that entrepreneurial communities, especially the elderly, become digitally literate and can increase their incomes.

‘I urge MDEC to continue JSD so that people in places like Bintulu, Miri, Kapit, and Belaga can benefit and understand (digital technology), with the cooperation of the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC),’ he said.

JSD is a continuation of the Saya Digital Campaign introduced in 2020, aiming to improve Malaysians’ digital skills in facing the digital economy.

It focuses on four main pillars: ‘Digital Literacy,’ ‘Digital Business,’ ‘Digital Freelance,’ and ‘Digital Careers.’
