malaysiangAuthorities intercepted a shipment containing more than 200 kilograms of shabu at the Manila International Container Port (MICP) on Thursday. In a press briefing at Camp Crame, Quezon City, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said this was based on the initial information from the inventory by the Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG). “Just to give a background, the PDEG (PNP Drug Enforcement Group) received intelligence information over the weekend regarding the shipment containing a huge amount of illegal drugs from Mexico,” Fajardo said. “The initial report given to me is that there are around 200 to 275 kilos at least but according to the latest report, there could still be more,” she added. Fajardo said the PDEG relayed the information to the Bureau of Customs which then conducted an inspection of the shipment inside a container van. “Based on the X-ray inspection, it was confirmed that the shipment had narcotics and the initial test showed that it was shabu but as to the (total) quantity, we are still waiting for the official report,” she added.
