One Relief Centre Open In Kulim For 48 Flood Victims

ALOR SETAR, A temporary relief centre was opened in Kulim last night to shelter 48 people from 12 families affected by the floods in the district.

Kedah Civil Defence Force (APM), in a statement, said the centre at Masjid Sungai Seluang, which became operational at 9.55 pm, is currently housing victims from Kampung Sungai Seluang Atas and Kampung Sungai Seluang Bawah.

‘The evacuees comprise 17 adults, 15 children, eight senior citizens and eight non-citizens,’ it said.

According to APM, heavy rainfall for several hours yesterday caused water levels to rise rapidly, prompting the evacuation of affected residents later that night.
