Number of flood evacuees drops to 369 in Batu Pahat

The flood situation in Batu Pahat has improved further with the number of evacuees dropping to 369 at 4 pm from 419 at 8 am today.

The Johor Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) said 50 victims at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seri Medan and Dewan Orang Ramai Yong Peng relief centres were allowed to return home after floodwaters receded.

“The flood situation is getting better, and a number of victims could go back to clean up their houses after the water subsided,” it said in a statement.

JPBN said five PPS are still operating, housing 105 families. The PPS are at SK Seri Medan (174 victims), Dewan Orang Ramai Yong Peng (114), Sekolah Agama Seri Comel (54), Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Hua Min (21) and Sekolah Agama Seri Bertam (six).

It said Sungai Bekok at Bekok Dam was still at the warning level with a reading of 19 metres, while the weather in all 10 districts in the state was reported to be rainy this afternoon.
