NorMin police report P18.8-M illegal drug haul in Q1

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: At least PHP18 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in various operations by the Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) during the first quarter of the year.

Brig. Gen. Ricardo Layug Jr. said the series of anti-illegal drug operations also netted 813 suspects.

“Our pursuit of a Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines) demands nothing less than our full commitment and concerted action,” he said in his report on Monday.

Data from PRO-10 showed another 19 villages were also declared drug-free, adding to the 1,501 drug-free communities across the region.

For the three-month period, at least 692 anti-illegal drug operations led to the confiscation of 2,765.74 grams of shabu and 29.01 grams of marijuana.

Aside from illegal drugs, Layug also highlighted the accomplishments in other law enforcement operations, such as 202 operations resulting in the arrest of 401 individuals and the seizure of PHP108,060 worth of illegal gambling paraphernalia.

Further, the PRO-10 arrested 962
individuals, of which 146 belonged to the most wanted list, while the remaining 816 are offenders for other crimes.

In the anti-loose firearms campaign, 475 operations resulted in the arrest of 115 and the confiscation, surrender, or recovery of 221 small arms and 23 light weapons.
