NorMin 1st tranch of wage increase takes effect Jan. 11

CAGAYAN: Northern Mindanao’s labor sector will implement a PHP33 increase in the daily minimum wage beginning Jan. 11.

The increase will be given in tranches — an initial increase of PHP23 effective Jan. 11 and an additional PHP10 on July 1.

“The DOLE will implement Wage Order No. RX-22 on Jan. 11 for Northern Mindanao after it was published in a local daily newspaper here on Dec. 26, 2023,” Director Erwin Aquino of the Department of Labor and Employment Region 10 said in a media briefing on Friday.

Aquino said the wage hike will benefit 144,133 minimum-wage earners of Northern Mindanao.

It will also benefit 54,851 ‘kasambahay’ or domestic workers in the region, he added.

Across the region, about 267,305 are full-time workers earning above the minimum wage.
