Noor Askuzaimey’s Performance In Paris An Inspiration To All – Nicol

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysian squash legend Datuk Nicol David praised national boccia player Noor Askuzaimey Mat Salim’s performance at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris today, stating that it would serve to inspire everyone, herself included.

Nicol dedicated a Facebook post to the para athlete for putting up a good fight to finish fourth in the women’s individual boccia BC4 (physical impairment) final yesterday.

‘I remember I just answered (Noor Askuzaimey) – You’re doing amazing by just representing our country and just go in and do your best and you’ll be just fine because you are strong and powerful.

‘I’m beyond proud of how you pushed yourself and how you represented us with honour and tenacity. You did your best and I will always cherish our conversation. Thank you for inspiring me by watching you compete giving your all,’ she posted.

Noor’s hopes of delivering the Malaysia’s first medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics were dashed after she was outplayed by Colombia’s Leidy Chica 7-1 in the bronze medal p
layoff.

The world number one Colombian dominated the proceedings at South Paris Arena 1 for a comprehensive victory over the Malaysian in their first-ever meeting.

Noor Askuzaimey can still make up for her disappointment when she competes in the mixed pairs BC4 event with Abdul Razzaq Abdul Rahman today.
