NDRRMC: Over P62-M aid provided to shear line-hit areas in Mindanao


MANILA: The government has so far provided some PHP62.57 million worth of assistance to communities affected by bad weather due to the shear line in Mindanao, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday.

The effects of the weather system has so far affected 173,875 families or 768,387 persons in 449 barangays in Caraga and Davao regions, according to the NDRRMC’s latest situation report.

The aid extended included medicines, family food packs, family and hygiene kits, jerry cans, modular tents, sleeping kits and vaccines.

Of these numbers, only 876 families or 2,770 persons are still being served in 19 active evacuation centers while 4,446 or 16,636 persons are being aided outside.

The Office of Civil Defense earlier said affected families include those displaced and those not needing transfer or removal from their residence.

The death toll stands at 16, of which 10 have been confirmed while six are still undergoing validation. Five people were injured.

d are placed at 419 in Davao and Caraga regions while infrastructure damage was estimated at PHP27.05 million in Davao alone.

Agriculture damage was placed at PHP78.11 million in the two regions.
