Navy civilian staff found dead in new Senate building

MANILA: The Philippine Navy (PN) on Friday said an investigation is underway into the death of one of its civilian kitchen staff members in Taguig City.

In a statement, PN spokesperson Commander John Percie Alcos said the civilian staff was found dead inside the New Senate Building near the Bonifacio Naval Station (BNS) on Thursday night.

Alcos said the deceased worked in one of the dining facilities inside the BNS and is a PN employee.

‘The Philippine Navy is also conducting a thorough investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event. At this moment, we cannot disclose the identity of the kitchen staff involved in this tragedy, as the family has not yet been notified,’ Alcos said.

Alcos, meanwhile, extended condolences to the deceased’s family.

‘The Philippine Navy is ready to assist all those affected by this tragic event and will fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies during the conduct of the investigation,’ he added.
