Nanta To Attend Future Mobility Summit In Dubai

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi will be attending the 2024 Future Mobility Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) next Monday.

The Ministry of Works (KKR) announced today that the summit, which will be attended by Nanta as the Chairman of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) Council of Malaysia, is a key event of the 30th ITS World Congress.

‘This summit is an excellent platform to promote the vision and strategies designed to achieve the country’s sustainable mobility development agenda through ITS initiatives, as well as a platform to explore potential international cooperation in ITS development in Malaysia.

‘It is also expected to discuss best practices in driving the sustainable mobility development agenda and set new benchmarks for achieving more sustainable mobility on a global scale,’ the statement read.

The Summit, to be held at Dubai World Trade Centre, is expected to attract nearly 20,000 participants and 500 exhibitors, as well as dignitaries and leaders from around th
e world including Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the United States.

KKR said Nanta will also lead a delegation for meetings and technical visits to relevant local agencies in Dubai and Malaysian companies offering expertise for mega projects in the Middle East.

‘This session provides an opportunity for KKR to learn, explore potential collaborations, and transfer technology in the fields of ITS and the construction industry, including infrastructure development, which is a core service of the ministry, while also promoting Malaysian engineering expertise on the global stage,’ it said.

The statement noted that the UAE is Malaysia’s second largest trading partner, export destination, and source of imports among Middle Eastern countries for 2023.

‘The UAE has also awarded 121 projects worth RM28.9 billion to Malaysian construction companies since 2009,’ it added.
