NABILA GETS TO PURSUE STUDIES WITH UTEM’S HELP

Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) has come to the aid of 18-year-old Nabilah Zainuddin, enabling her to pursue her studies at the university.

Her studies at the university will be fully funded by Yayasan Tun Canselor UTeM under the UTeM Anak Emas package for students with excellent educational backgrounds who are from poor families.

UTeM vice-chancellor Prof Dr Massila Kamalrudin said Nabila was offered a diploma course in manufacturing engineering at the university, but she was unable to start her studies due to family hardship.

Through the Yayasan Tun Canselor UTeM sponsorship, the student will receive full funding of tuition fees for the first semester amounting to RM914 as well as a living allowance of RM500 per month, she said in a statement today.

Massila had visited Nabilah’s family at her house in Alai to hand over the donation. Also present was UTeM deputy vice-chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs) Associate Professor Datuk Dr Sabri Mohamad Sharif.

According to Massila, Nabila went to register at the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering at UTeM Main Campus in Durian Tunggal today to start her first semester at the university.

Meanwhile, Nabilah thanked UTeM for providing her with the opportunity to realise her dream of studying manufacturing engineering.

Nabilah said her father Zainuddin Hassan, 54, was a security guard but was forced to stop work following heart surgery.

He is now undergoing further treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN), she said, adding that her mother, Siti Noormasurah Ahmad, 49, works as a canteen helper to support the family.

“It is because of the family hardship that gives me the motivation to pursue my studies and to succeed so that I can provide a better life for my family.

“My family and I are indeed very grateful to UTeM,” she added.
