MPKu Urban Forest Gains Glowing Recognition From MBOR

KULAI, A total of 20 acres of the Kulai Municipal Council’s (MPKu) Urban Forest here was illuminated by 1.7 million light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs, earning recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR).

MPKu president Mohd Fahmi Salam said the council is honoured by the recognition given to MPKu Urban Forest as the largest light festival in a public park in Malaysia through the Luna Lights Wonderland exhibition.

‘The recognition (from MBOR) was given to MPKu based on the size of the location and the number of LED bulbs … for this (Luna Lights Wonderland) event, which is the largest, we used around 20 acres out of the 160-acre urban forest to display 1.7 million LED bulbs,’ he said at a press conference here last night.

Also present was Kulai district officer Fizwan Mohd Rashidi.

Mohd Fahmi said the exhibition, which involves 70 local vendors, is expected to be extended by two weeks from its original duration of Sept 26 to Oct 27.

‘I hope the extension will provide more opportunities for people
to attend, especially since Deepavali will also be celebrated soon,’ he said.

He said the exhibition aligns with preparations for the Visit Johor Year 2026 celebrations.
