MORE Power allots P1B for better service in Bohol

ILOILO CITY: MORE Electric and Power Corp., the electricity provider here will spend around PHP1 billion in the next four years to improve power services in Bohol, its top official said.

‘For Bohol, that [investment] should be between… perhaps a billion would be more or less doable in the next four years,” MORE Power president and CEO Roel Castro said in an interview at the sidelines of the 16th Media Seminar organized by the US Embassy in the Philippines on Tuesday.

“It’s not also as big as Iloilo, and I was looking at the system hindi naman siya sirang-sira (not totally damaged), but it needs improvement definitely, so I’m looking at about a billion,” he said.

Listed firm SPC Power Corp. earlier this year said it has divested its stake in Bohol Light Co. Inc. (BLCI) to Primelectric Holdings.

Primelectric Holdings is an affiliate of MORE Power.

Castro said the PHP1-billion investment in Bohol will be used to install automatic circuit reclosers (ACRs).

“So [an] ACR, as I have pointed out, 98-99 percen
t ng mga outages na-a-avert niya. (So an ACR, as I have pointed out, can avert outages by 98-99 percent). So that one immediately will bring improvement),” Castro said.

He said the investments will also be used to improve the customer helpline in Bohol.
