KUALA LUMPUR: Chairman of the Muzakarah Committee of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI) Datuk Dr Nooh Gadut has been requested to provide a public explanation regarding the issue of individuals reportedly seeing Prophet Muhammad SAW in dreams. This request comes from Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, who has also announced that the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) will issue a statement on the matter shortly.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the issue gained public attention after a video surfaced on social media, featuring a political leader claiming to have had a dream of meeting the Prophet in his parliamentary constituency located in an East Coast state. This has led to widespread discussions and varying interpretations, prompting the need for official clarification from religious authorities.
In a separate matter, Mohd Na’im addressed concerns raised by a disabled individual regarding inadequate facilities
for persons with disabilities (PwD) in mosques. He assured that the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) is committed to ensuring all mosques under its jurisdiction are equipped with suitable facilities to accommodate all worshippers, including those with disabilities. Mohd Na’im emphasized the importance of making mosques accessible and encouraging PwD individuals, regardless of their impairments, to visit and participate in mosque activities.
Mohd Na’im also expressed his intention to meet with the concerned individual to gather insights for enhancing PwD facilities in mosques. During his speech at the Central Zone-level Jelajah MADANI Ulama dan Umara (JMUU) programme, he highlighted the government’s increased allocation in the MADANI Budget 2025 for managing Islamic affairs. He stated that this move reflects the MADANI Government’s dedication to preserving the sanctity of Islam in the country and counters any claims suggesting that Islam is under threat.
