MIGHT, Tenmak Exchange MoU On RandD For Industry Development

KUALA LUMPUR, The Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) and Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mineral Research Agency (TENMAK) exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Thursday to facilitate research and development (RandD) initiatives that will promote industrial growth in both countries.

The MOU aims at establishing a framework for collaboration in the areas of green technology, environmental science, renewable energy, biotechnology, nuclear medicine, nuclear technology, and advanced materials.

‘Programmes and activities outlined in the MoU include the exchange of scientists and specialists in bilateral scientific and technological cooperation, organising scientific and technological seminars in issues of high interest to both countries.

‘Also in the pipeline are joint research programmes, laboratories, pilot stations and initiatives related to natural resources and suitable technological processes and procedures,’ said MIGHT in a statement.

MIGHT senior vice-president Mohd Z
akwan Mohd Zabidi, represented the organisation, while TENMAK was represented by its president Prof Dr Abdulkadir Balikci at the exchange ceremony, which took place during the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Chang Lih Kang’s working visit to Turkiye.

The initiative is supported by the Malaysia Science Endowment (MSE), as a national initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia (ASM) to ensure the sustainability of national RandD funding, read the statement.

Chang, in the same statement, expressed hope that the MIGHT and TENMAK collaboration will translate into greater co-creation by both parties and a shortened learning curve in key areas of national interests, leading to greater success in the implementation of techno-commercial efforts.

Since its establishment in 2020, TENMAK has been instrumental in advancing scientific research activities in the fields of energy, mining, ionising radiation, particle accelerators
and nuclear technology.
