Melaka Crocodile, Recreational Park aims to attract 150,000 visitors this year

MELAKA, Feb 27 (Bernama) — The Melaka Crocodile and Recreational Park, an Artac Group subsidiary, aims to attract between 130,000 and 150,000 tourists to the park this year, compared to 120,000 last year.

Artac Group executive chairman Tan Sri Prof Dr Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik said the expected increase was due to the introduction of new tourist attractions and improvements to facilities at the park.

“The new attractions include an aviary called the Lovebird Paradise, with 70 small-sized cockatoos of different colour plumages from Africa,” he told reporters after officiating the lovebird release ceremony here today, in the presence of park general manager Ahmad Syarifuddin Mohamad.

He said the lovebirds could not be simply kept and required special licences from the Department of Wildlife and National Parks of Peninsular Malaysia (Perhilitan), adding that the birds were bought at RM350 each, and the park had targetted breeding over 500 lovebirds in the aviary in the future.

“The park also allocated RM200,000 to RM300,000 this year to upgrade facilities for the comfort and safety of visitors,” he said, adding that the existing haunted house was scheduled to reopen soon with new attractions.

The park, he said, was looking for new investors to bring a unique twist to the haunted house using three-dimensional technology.
