MDIO To Enhance Cooperation With Media To Highlight Importance Of National Defence

KUALA LUMPUR, The Malayisa Defence Intelligence Organisation (MDIO) of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) intends to strengthen cooperation with media agencies to spread the message of the importance of defending the country.

Its psychological warfare division chief Colonel Mohd Hazri Ahmad said all media agencies should be regarded as strategic partners in assisting the MOF to disseminate information on defence issues, particularly in the country’s strategic areas, such as land and maritime borders, as well as locations where the forces had conducted operations.

He said the MDIO is a unit under the MAF responsible for planning and implementing warfare operations, particularly aimed at enhancing defence capabilities while fostering public confidence and strengthening the relationship between the people and the government.

‘We strive to promote togetherness (between the people and the government) and aim to enhance the spirit of patriotism at all levels, including in urban and rural areas, to help the MAF and
other government agencies strengthen their ability to defend the country,’ he said after attending the MDIO shooting competition with media practitioners at the Sungai Besi Camp here today.

Also present was Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) News Service Executive Editor Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa.

Earlier, 20 media practitioners participated in the competition, with Media Prima Berhad emerging as the overall winner and Bernama securing second place.
