MBSP Launches i-SWeeP System To Streamline Cleaning-related Services

BUKIT MERTAJAM, The Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) has become the first local authority (PBT) in the country to implement an integrated municipal management system, aimed at facilitating the monitoring of all cleaning-related services.

Seberang Perai Mayor Datuk Baderul Amin Abdul Hamid said the system, known as i-SWeeP (Integrated Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management System), was established to optimise MBSP’s functions in enhancing the quality of life for residents, stakeholders and visitors in Seberang Perai through smart technology and data analysis.

‘The i-SWeeP system serves as a one-stop application for all key functions of the MBSP Municipal Services Department, encompassing ten comprehensive management modules, including information and data management, staffing, waste management, travel allowance claims, operations, vehicles, cleaning contractor companies, enforcement, solid waste facilities and complaint management.

‘With a workforce of 2,091, the Municipal Services Department can lev
erage this system to effectively monitor the cleaning services provided by MBSP,’ he said during the system launch at MBSP Bandar Perda today.

The launch was officiated by State Local Government and Town and Country Planning Committee chairman, H’ng Mooi Lye.

Baderul Amin said the system is fully owned by MBSP and integrated with existing systems used by the council, including Attendance System, Leave System, i-Kompaun System, TPPB Weighbridge System, and SISKEN Vehicle Maintenance System.

Meanwhile, H’ng said the system will assist MBSP in monitoring ongoing work carried out by contractors while expediting the resolution of cleanliness complaints, saving both time and effort for MBSP personnel.

With a growing population and an administrative area of 751 square kilometres covering three districts, the Municipal Services Department not only manages the largest workforce at MBSP but also oversees cleaning contractors.

‘Therefore, I hope the i-SWeeP system will enhance management and monitoring at MBSP. I a
m particularly interested in the cleaning contractor management module, which allows for automatic reporting and notifications to contractors not adhering to specifications via this system.

‘Also, all complaints regarding municipal services can also be accessed through the i-SWeeP complaint management module, which I hope will reduce complaints related to cleanliness and municipal services moving forward,’ he said.
