Mata Ayer to be developed as traditional food hub

ARAU, Jan 19 – Mata Ayer will be developed as a traditional food hub to provide a new tourist products for visitors in Perlis.

Mata Ayer Assemblywoman Siti Berenee Yahaya said she saw that the potential of Mata Ayer becoming a traditional food hub with the presence of many successful small entrepreneurs in the state constituency.

She said she would bring up the matter, which would be in line with the state government’s aspiration to have “Satu DUN Satu Produk’ (One State Constituency One product), to the state executive council meeting for discussion.

Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man recently requested for all elected state representatives to introduce a product that has the potential to be developed in their respective constituency for economic activities.

Siti Berenee, who is also the State Women, Family and Community Development Committee Exco, said that among the popular traditional kuih in Mata Ayer were kuih karas, ringgi, kuih bangkit and putu kacang.

She also expressed potential of Mata Ayer becoming a tourist destination, not only for its traditional food, but also the batik factory and the Bukit Ngulang limestone cave.
