MASIC, Space Scotland Ink MoU To Foster Cooperation In Space Sector

The Malaysian Space Industry Consortium (MASIC) and Space Scotland signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to foster cooperative activities in the space sector, leveraging the strengths of the Scottish and Malaysian space ecosystems.

The Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) said the MoU outlines key areas of cooperation including strategic partnership and market access; innovation and technology exchange; public awareness and engagement; workforce development and education; and sustainable space practices.

‘This underscores the growing bilateral partnership between Scotland and Malaysia in the global space industry.

‘The signing follows the successful first space trade mission to Malaysia organised by Scottish Development International in partnership with Malaysia Space Agency (MYSA) and MIGHT in February of this year during the Malaysia-Scotland TechnoMart event,’ said MIGHT in a statement, today.

The MoU was signed by MASIC President Datuk Kamarul Redzuan Muhamed and Spac
e Scotland Board Member and the official Space Trade and Investment envoy for Scotland Daniel Smith.

It was witnessed by Scottish Minister for Business, Richard Neilson Lochhead, MYSA Director-General Azlikamil Napiah, and MIGHT president and chief executive officer (CEO) Rushdi Abdul Rahim.

In addition to the MoU, Kamarul Redzuan who is also UZMA Berhad Group CEO and Managing Director, signed an Expression of Interest with Celestia Group that was represented by its CEO Malachy Devlin to explore further collaborative projects.

Further strengthening Malaysia’s presence at the event, Gading Berhad also signed an Expression of Interest with Fire Arrow of Scotland, with Gading Berhad CEO Muhamad Nurazmi Abas and Fire Arrow Managing Director Dr Mick O’Connor, representing their respective organisations.
