Malaysia’s Port of Tanjung Pelepas Honoured with Supply Chain Innovator Award for Digital Transformation.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s largest transshipment hub, Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), was recently honoured with the Supply Chain Innovator of the Year: Digital Transformation Award at the 2024 Supply Chain Asia (SCA) Awards. The award recognises the port’s use of Navis maritime solutions from Kaleris to power data-driven decision-making capabilities, predictive analytics, and real-time monitoring as part of an overall digital transformation journey.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this recognition highlights PTP’s pivotal role in redefining operational standards and driving industry advancement. Kaleris chief executive officer, Kirk Knauff, acknowledged the port’s innovative approach, noting that PTP’s optimisation of operations positively impacts downstream logistics and the broader global supply chain. PTP’s chief operations officer, Joe Schofield, credited the award to the port’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and innovation, which he has championed over the past seven years.

PTP’s achievem

These technologies have enabled PTP to set a new performance benchmark, achieving one container move every three seconds. The port has also contributed to the development of the Navis RTG-Optimization module in partnership with Kaleris, enhancing decision-making automation for Rubber-Tired Gantry jobs, blocks, and lane assignments.

Innovation remains central to PTP’s mission, as evidenced by its use of advanced equipment to serve ultra-large container vessels and offer a range of terminal handling services. The Navis N4 terminal operating system from Kaleris has been instrumental in these advancements. By incorporating real-time terminal operations monitoring with Navis OpsView, PTP has notably improved operational efficiency, increased berth productivity, and reduced operating costs.
