MALAYSIAN JUNIOR DIPLOMATS CAN NOW LEARN KOREAN

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian junior diplomats can now study Korean language offered at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) here.

South Korean Ambassador to Malaysia Yeo Seung Bae said the embassy in Malaysia and the Korean Education Centre will actively provide support for the operation of the recently launched Korean language courses for junior diplomats.

‘It is significant for diplomats, who will play a leading role in South Korea-Malaysia relations in the future to develop their Korean language skills. This will help expand exchanges and cooperation together to promote friendship between the two countries,’ he said in a statement.

Spanning until Dec 7, the intensive course will deliver 32 hours of online instruction to 16 participants of the Diploma in Diplomacy (DiD) programme, which exposes junior Administrative and Diplomatic Officers to diplomatic affairs and international relations before their first assignment abroad.

IDFR director general Datuk Syed Mohamad Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman
expressed gratitude to the South Korean government for their support in making the initiative possible.

“We appreciate the South Korean government’s support of instructors and teaching materials for Korean language courses.

‘We will strive to enhance the Korean language proficiency of our junior diplomats through this class,” he said.
