MAHA 2024 Hits Three Million Visitor Target As Of Sept 18 – Mohamad

SERDANG, The Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism (MAHA) Exhibition 2024 has successfully achieved its target of three million visitors, as of Sept 18, according to Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

He noted that this level of attendance demonstrates strong community support for the event. As part of the celebration, a motorcycle was awarded to one lucky visitor, marking the occasion of reaching the third millionth visitor.

‘I anticipate that the total number of visitors to MAHA this year will reach five million, by the end of the weekend,’ Mohamad said.

‘To show our appreciation for the tremendous support from Malaysians, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) will present a Perodua AXIA car to the five millionth visitor,’ he added.

Mohamad previously mentioned that the 12-day MAHA exhibition aimed to attract three million visitors, which is expected to generate direct sales of RM40 million, and a potential financial impact of RM600 million.

H
e said that based on MAHA’s daily report, a significant increase in visitor numbers is anticipated tomorrow and over the weekend. Consequently, he has instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) to deploy all available assets, including buses, vans, trams, and buggies, to facilitate smooth travel for the public.

In addition to surpassing the target of three million visitors, he highlighted that sales of seeds and saplings from the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) have also exceeded those from the previous MAHA edition.

‘This demonstrates growing public interest and engagement in the agricultural sector,’ he stated.

Commemorating its 100th anniversary, the 2024 edition of MAHA focuses on elevating the event to an international level, with participation from various countries enhancing its global stature.
