PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today denied claims that RM94 million had been found at a former minister’s residence. The commission clarified that MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki never made any statement regarding the alleged RM94 million discovery at the former minister’s residence, as claimed by Pendang MP Datuk Awang Hashim in Dewan Rakyat.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MACC emphasized the importance of basing statements on accurate facts to prevent misinformation, while also respecting MPs’ rights to express their views freely. The commission reiterated that no official statement had been made by either the MACC or its Chief Commissioner about finding the said amount at a former minister’s home.
During the Dewan Rakyat session, Pendang MP Datuk Awang Hashim alluded to an unresolved case involving RM94 million allegedly found at the home of a minister from the Democratic Action Party (DAP), which sparked a commotion. In response, Jelutong MP RSN Rayer issued
a challenge for Awang to disclose the name of the DAP leader allegedly involved within 24 hours.
