LTO boosts enforcer visibility after PBBM’s call to obey traffic laws

MANILA: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set to increase the visibility of traffic enforcers in support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos’ call for motorists and other road users to observe traffic laws.

In a statement on Tuesday, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said these enforcers will ensure proper loading and unloading of passengers, the exclusivity of bicycle lanes and implementing other traffic rules and regulations.

‘Patuloy tayong makikipag-ugnayan sa ating mga LGUs (local government units), MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at sa Philippine National Police (PNP) upang tiyakin ang disiplina sa daan dahil ito naman ay para sa kaligtasan ng lahat (We will continue our coordination with LGUs, MMDA and the PNP to ensure road discipline for the safety of all),’ Mendoza said.

He also called on leaders of transport groups to mandate their members to follow and respect traffic laws.

‘Hindi puwede na ang mga pasahero ang masusunod kung saan sila bababa at sasakay.
Bilang mga tsuper, makakatulong din tayo sa panawagan ng ating Pangulo na magkaroon ng disiplina ang lahat ng road users (Passengers cannot be the ones in charge of where they are dropped off and where they get onboard. Public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers are capable of helping the President in his call for discipline to all road users),’ he added.

Earlier, Marcos urged all road users to observe traffic laws, rules and regulations on road safety under his administration’s banner “Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines).”

He also asked PUV drivers to observe the designated loading and unloading zones, refrain from using bike lanes, for vendors to clear the sidewalks and for the public to use pedestrian lanes.
