KUALA LUMPUR, Datuk Dr J. Loga Bala Mohan was elected as the new president of the People’s Progressive Party (MyPPP) today, after winning the post unopposed during the party’s leadership election.
MyPPP secretary-general Datuk Inder Singh Beant Singh said Loga Bala, who had been the party’s acting president, received unanimous support from the delegates at the party’s 71st Annual General Meeting (AGM).
“At this AGM, we also proposed several amendments, including restructuring the Senior Vice President position, which has been renamed as Deputy President.
“This also includes a proposal to rebrand the party’s logo, and the party will be known again as PPP, once the amendments are approved by the Registrar of Societies (RoS),” he told reporters after the AGM today.
Loga Bala replaces Datuk Seri Maglin Dennis D’Cruz, who passed away at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang on Nov 17, 2023.
Previously, Loga Bala, who held the position of Senior Vice President, acted as president according to Article 9.10 of
the party’s constitution, which states that the senior vice president will assume the role of president if the position becomes vacant.
Inder Singh said the MyPPP Deputy President seat is now filled by Datuk Mohan A. Kandasamy, who previously was acting Senior Vice President.
MyPPP, which was established in 1953, currently has 320,000 members across 119 divisions and 3,119 branches.
