Laos begins national mourning for Vietnam’s Party leader


Laos began a two-day national mourning for General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong on July 25. During the mourning, flags are hoisted half-mast at the Lao embassies and diplomatic missions abroad and all forms of entertainment activities are suspended. The Vietnamese leader passed away in Hanoi on July 19. He was 80. In Vietnam, the two-day national mourning for Party General Secretary Trong takes place on July 25-26.
