LABUAN, Labuan’s containerised port operator, Megah Port Management Sdn Bhd (MPM) is strengthening its cooperation with the Labuan Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to ensure a stable and well-monitored supply of consumer goods on the duty-free island.

Labuan KPDN director Junaidah Arbain emphasised the importance of this collaboration, acknowledging MPM’s critical role as the port operator in ensuring that consumer goods flow seamlessly into the market.

She highlighted the ministry’s commitment to resolving any issues related to the supply chain.

‘We are closely monitoring the supply of essential goods like sugar, cooking oil, and other necessities that come through MPM.

‘We want the close cooperation from Megah Port that any delays in the movement of cargo should be reported to KPDN to ensure a smooth flow, especially for crucial items,’ she told Bernama after receiving a courtesy call from MPM’s management here today.

Junaidah praised MPM’s initiative in building strong relationshi

MPM’s chief operating officer Datuk Seri Patrick Tiong shared his optimism about future collaborations with KPDN, adding that MPM is committed to supporting the ministry’s efforts in ensuring that consumer goods reach the public efficiently.

‘Currently, MPM handles less than five per cent of edible goods, about 15 per cent non-consumable consumer goods, and the remaining 80 per cent is primarily oil and gas-related cargo,’ he added.
