KPDN HOPES MORE HOTELS WILL JOIN PAYUNG RAHMAH INITIATIVE

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) hopes more hospitality companies will join the ‘Payung Rahmah’ initiative by offering certain packages to help increase the growth of the domestic tourism sector.

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said that, so far, two hotels have joined the initiative, namely Hotel Elopura in Sandakan, Sabah and Tamu Hotel & Suites Kuala Lumpur.

“This package is a very valuable attraction for those wanting to come to Kuala Lumpur for shopping but, at the same time, also improve the growth of the local (domestic) hospitality and tourism industry.

“So, with the efforts put in by these hotels, we hope more hospitality companies can provide Rahmah packages like this in any form and not necessarily only during Ramadan… after that is fine too,” he told reporters after the launch of the Rahmah Package with Tamu Hotel & Suites Kuala Lumpur.

Earlier, in his speech, Salahuddin spoke of wanting to make efforts to help ease the people’s burden as a system in the country.

“Yesterday, at the post-Cabinet meeting, I proposed to my fellow ministers that the government should start building a system in any form to continue welfare work (efforts to help ease the burden of the people).

“This is important because we must not neglect the welfare of those in need and we will ensure that assistance given is easy, based on a transparent system according to the relevant ministry’s data,” he said.
