KKR To Work With JPS To Overcome Flood Issues In Jalan Kampung Sembrong Dalam

KLUANG, The Public Works Ministry (KKR) will work with the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) to resolve the flooding issue at Jalan Kampung Sembrong Dalam (J14) here.

Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the cooperation concerned was aimed to solve the problem that has plagued about 200 residents since 2012.

He said that although various maintenance work had been carried out since 2021 involving a total cost of RM1.1 million, it still failed to solve the issue of flooding in the area.

‘Among those that have been upgraded are the repair of the road shoulder, leveling and repair of the existing drain to an U-shape design drain.

‘Those who live here (Kampung Sembrong Dalam) have been facing flooding problems for years, but before this was work was done on a piecemeal basis (little by little),’ he told reporters after conducting a maintenance work visit at Kampung Sembrong Dalam here today.

He added that through the cooperation between KKR and JPS this time, it will not be done in on a ‘littl
e by little’ or ‘correct little by little’ manner but needs to be carried out as a whole.

He said the paperwork for this upgrade had been sent to the Kluang District Office and the Ministry of Rural Development and Region (KKDW) for further action.

‘After getting the approval for a complete work plan from the district (Kluang) official, we will submit it to KKDW, including the discussion of the overall cost.

‘Meanwhile, another project to solve flood problems in the district of Kluang is being carried out along Jalan Padang Tembak, and now work on constructing a V-shaped drain along one kilometer is being completed,’ he said.
