KKMM continues to distribute Kotak Kasih aid to flood victims

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 — The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) has distributed 1,030 donation boxes or ‘Kotak Kasih’ at four locations in Selangor to help residents affected by the floods.

According to KKMM Facebook page, the handover of the aid, in the form of food and clothes was made by Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, who is press secretary to KKMM minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, at three locations, namely in Pulau Carey, Kuala Langat and Sijangkang.

At Pulau Carey, 230 boxes were distributed, Kuala Langat (300) and Sijangkang (100).

In addition, 400 boxes were distributed in Hulu Langat.

The aid boxes, courtesy of staff of KKMM and it agencies, was a collaboration with the ministry’s strategic partners in promoting the Keluarga Malaysia spirit.

Yesterday, KKMM together with the private sector distributed 700 donation boxes to flood victims at Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam.

Meanwhile, the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Medac) will distribute post-flood allocations to entrepreneurs affected by the floods in seven states namely Selangor, Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu and Melaka.

Its Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar said the aid to be distributed through the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM) would be channeled to affected cooperatives and he urged those in need of assistance to contact the nearest SKM office.

“Aid will also be distributed through Tekun Nasional under the scheme for assistance to hawkers while asnaf traders will be assisted under a different scheme,” he told reporters when monitoring the flood situation at Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam today.

In JOHOR BAHRU, Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah announced that the Malaysian Red Crescent Society will donate RM100,000 in aid of flood victims in Selangor.

In a post uploaded on the The Royal Johor Facebook page, Raja Zarith who is also MRCS royal advisor said the fund to be channeled through Selangor MRCS was in response to the plight of those who have incurred massive losses due to the devastation.
