KKDW Targets RM500,000 In Sales At MAHA 2024 – DPM Ahmad Zahid

SERDANG, The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) is targeting sales at its Laman Usahawan Desa@MAHA 2024 to reach RM500,000 in the 12-day Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, Agrotourism Show (MAHA) 2024.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister said so far, the value of sales recorded at its exhibition site has grossed RM360,000 and received 100,000 visitors.

“We have 170 village entrepreneurs under MARA (Majlis Amanah Rakyat) and several regional development authorities.

“This is the first time we (KKDW) have our own pavilion (site) at MAHA, before that, we only set up a stall. Thank you to KPKM (Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security),” he told reporters after visiting the Laman Usahawan Desa@MAHA 2024 site here today.

The site made possible by 170 rural entrepreneurs from several agencies including MARA, the Penang Regional Development Authority, the Kedah Regional Development Authority, Department of Orang Asli Develop
ment and the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda).

Various activities were held at the site including entrepreneur sales, agency exhibitions under KKDW, rural tourism presentations and spa services by Technical and Vocational Training Education (TVET) students.

Ahmad Zahid was also proud of KPKM’s work under the leadership of Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu because the exhibition that is taking place at the Malaysian Agricultural Expo Park (MAEPS) has so far recorded a total of 2.3 million visitors.

“Congratulations to Mohamad because MAHA this time seems to be quite successful. Their target (KPKM) is three million visitors but today (the eighth day) has recorded about 2.3 million visitors,” he said.

With the theme of ‘Harvesting Hope Building the Future’, MAHA 2024 which is entering its 100th edition is targeting approximately RM6 billion worth of memorandum of understanding as well as RM40 million worth of direct sales.
