KKDW Helps Rural Entrepreneurs Master New Skills Under Digitalisation Programme

TASEK GELUGOR, The Rural and Regional Development Ministry(KKDW) is helping rural entrepreneurs master digital marketing skills by providing various courses under its Rural Entrepreneur Digitalisation Programme.

Its secretary-general, Datuk Muhd ??Khair Razman Mohamed Annuar said entrepreneurs needed these strategies and skills to impact their businesses effectively as digital marketing has become the norm.

“KKDW has allocated RM1.7 million for the programme with a target of 1,200 entrepreneurs to digitalising their businesses this year. So, we call on all entrepreneurs to take this opportunity to improve their products.

“A total of 3,249 rural entrepreneurs have been trained under this programme since its implementation three years ago. Now there are 6,000 products by rural entrepreneurs registered in the ministry’s e-commerce system records,” he said in a prepared speech read by the ministry’s Senior ivision Secretary (Management Services) Datuk Roslan Mahmood at the opening of the Penang Regional Devel
opment Authority (Perda) Expo 2024 (Expert 2024) at Midtown Perda.

The ministry has also collaborated with online platforms such as Presto, Wowshop, Shopee, Lazada, Youbeli, Storehub, Food Panda, Grab, and Beep. to help rural entrepreneurs expand their businesses via e-commerce, he said, and encouraged them to participate in the Alibaba Cloud program initiative in Malaysia, which can help develop an artificial intelligence (AI) model suitable for local small and medium enterprises.

Rural entrepreneurs should also obtain halal certification for their products as preparation to expand to markets abroad, Muhd ??Khair Razman added.

Perda chairman Datuk Shaik Hussein Mydin, who was also present at yesterday’s opening, said that Expert 2024 has 252 exhibition booths of various business categories, including food and beverage products, services, agriculture, automotive, cosmetics, health products, handicrafts, and home furnishings.

The three-day expo is aiming to register sales of RM1.7 million and over 75,000 v
isitors, he added.
