KBS Remains Committed To Developing PwD Athletes

KUALA LUMPUR, The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) remains committed to providing continuous support to athletes from the persons with disabilities (PwD) community and ensuring the smooth development of sports for this group.

In making this pledge, Deputy Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim also expressed his appreciation for sports associations that consistently take care of the welfare of their athletes and hopes that close cooperation between all involved parties will continue.

‘Such cooperation is crucial to ensure that national PwD teams and athletes receive widespread support, not only from the government but also from the corporate sector and foundations,’ he said during an event to celebrate the success of the cerebral palsy football team at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games here today.

Adam Adli said he is satisfied with Budget 2025 as it emphasises the development of PwD sports despite the high costs involved.

‘I believe this is a comprehensive budget in terms of efforts and preparation for sports events and
addressing the issue of sports development itself. I hope that cooperation from all parties can support this initiative.

‘Sports are expensive, but we need to provide the best to ensure the advancement of PwD sports in our country,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Cerebral Palsy Football Association president Abdul Majid Mat hopes the national team can maintain their performance for the 2026 ASEAN Para Games in Korat, Thailand.

‘I hope they maintain their performance and perhaps add new PwD players with the potential to join the national football team,’ he said.
