Johor Exco meeting did not discuss state election – Tosrin

ISKANDAR PUTERI, Jan 19 — The weekly meeting of the state executive council today did not discuss anything related to the Johor state election, said state Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Tosrin Jarvanthi.

“Nothing out of the ordinary and today’s meeting went as usual. We discussed on government papers, nothing else. There is no discussion (on the Johor election),” he told reporters when met after the meeting in Kota Iskandar here.

Meanwhile, Tosrin, who is Kulai Bersatu chief, said the division had yet to get a date on the party’s meeting at the state level.

The BN-led Johor government’s majority in the state assembly has been reduced to only one seat following the death of Kempas assemblyman Datuk Osman Sapian last month.

The ruling coalition has 28 seats, with BN having 16, Bersatu 11 and PAS one, while Pakatan Harapan has 27 seats in the 56-seat state assembly.

Yesterday, the opposition bloc in Johor said it was against any move to call for a state election now and offered a ‘commitment of stability’ to the state government.
