JDT to channel proceeds from ticket sales to flood victims in Johor

KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) — Nine-time Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) will channel the proceeds from ticket sales of their Super League home matches this season to flood victims in Johor.

JDT chief executive officer Alistair Edwards said the Tunku Mahkota of Johor (TMJ), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who is also the owner of the Southern Tigers, has instructed that proceeds from ticket sales for matches held at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri until the end of the Ramadan month be channelled to the flood victims.

“This involves Super League matches against Kelantan (March 11), Sabah (March 31), Kedah (April 9) and the FA Cup tie against PDRM (April 14).

“All the funds will be channelled to the flood victims through the district offices in Johor,” he said in a post on JDT’s official Facebook page, Johor Southern Tigers.

JDT currently top the Super League standings with nine points, the same as Sabah, who are second on goal difference, after both teams won their three opening matches.

The number of flood victims in Johor as of 2 pm today showed a slight decrease to 44,780 people compared to 45,048 at 8 am.

The disaster, which began on March 1, has so far claimed six lives.
