LAOAG CITY: The province of Ilocos Norte is set to welcome a business delegation from Thailand on Thursday to be led by Thailand Ambassador to the Phlippines Tull Traisorat.
Soya Cheng-Bueno, Ilocos Norte Trade and Investment Promotions Center head, confirmed this on Wednesday to the Philippine News Agency hoping to lure Thai investors to expand their business in the province.
‘This will be our first engagement with them and we hope that they will see an opportunity for expansion here,’ she said.
Bueno added her office would facilitate a business-to-business networking activity at the Capitol Auditorium on Thursday and introduce the visitors to their business counterparts engaged in renewable energy, tourism, logistics, and finance.
“This way, they can understand the local market and demand on one hand. On the other hand, they can be potential partners,’ she said, noting the activity is exploratory and a proactive promotional activity for Ilocos Norte to showcase its potential as ripe for investment.

de from meeting with their local counterparts in the province, Ambassador Traisorat is also invited to grace the 118th Ablan Day celebration on August 9 in honor of the legacy of former Governor Roque B. Ablan Sr.
Declared a special non-working holiday in the province, the occasion recognizes Ablan Sr. for his service to the country as governor and labor leader.
This year’s celebration runs with the theme, ‘Unity in diversity: celebrating our roots and global contributions.’
As part of the celebration, organizers led by the Ablan family have organized a banchetto or food fest at the Aurora Park in this city to showcase authentic Ilocos products among others.
The fair will run until Aug. 11 with 30 participating local businesses.
An agri-trade fair was also set at the Capitol grounds on August 9, which coincides with commemoration rites at the Ablan Shrine.
Ablan Sr. was the youngest provincial executive during his time and the only governor in Northern Luzon who refused to surrender when the Japanese la
nded in Vigan, Ilocos Sur during World War II in 1941.
